The Nicholas Cruwys Naval Series
The series follows Nicholas Cruwys from his first days at sea as a fourteen-year-old gentleman volunteer in 1774 to his service as a seasoned frigate captain during the opening years of the French Revolutionary Wars. It spans the great events of the age — the voyages of Cook, the American War of Independence, the peace of 1783, and the convulsions of the French Revolution — while remaining at its heart the story of one man's career, character, and conscience.
The books are written for readers who want the authentic texture of the period: the technical reality of sailing a man-of-war, the social world of the Georgian navy, and the political and strategic context that shaped every decision made at sea.
